5.1. Methodological overview

The methodology followed in this course is oriented towards achievement of the learning objectives. A wide range of teaching and learning tasks are implemented, such as theory sessions, active participation, practical cases, and discussions will be generated for individual and group conclusions.

Cooperative learning methodology (based on problem-solving) will be used for finding information, reading and analysis of documents, class presentations and attending conferences related to the course contents.

5.2. Learning tasks

The course includes the following learning tasks: 

  • Lectures. The student learns the legislation, ethical principles, and ethic codes.
  • Practical cases. Application of theoretical contents  that raise ethical or deontological conflicts and discussion of them in light of current legislation. Other cases related to psychological reports, expert reports, etc. will be introduced.
  • Special relevance charged ethical issues in research, the operation of Bioethics Committees and possible violations and consequences thereof. 

5.3. Syllabus

The course will address the following topics:

  1. Law, Moral and Ethics.
  2. Introduction to Legislation related to Health General Psychology.
  3. Professional Ethics in HGP. Professional Associations of Psychologists.
  4. Requirements for professional practice in HGP.
  5. Rights and Duties of patient / user.
  6. Bioethical conflict resolution. Ethics committees.
  7. The special case of psychiatric patient.
  8. Psicoethic in clinical, research, publication of results ...
  9. Psychological-Legal documents: the report and the expert report.

5.4. Course planning and calendar

Continuous assessment is done at the end of each unit, and will be specified by the teacher responsible of the course, as well as the official date of the final exam.
